Artificial Sweeteners

Remove:  Splenda, Equal, Sweet n Low. Many food items with the words diet, or sugar free i.e., Gum, Mints, Candies, Sweetened baked goods etc.

Replace With:  Stevia, Xylitol.  Spry Gum, B12 Gum, Eco-Dent Gum, Spry mints, Xylitol candies.  (Or even better  –  train your body not to crave the taste of sugar so much)

Here’s Why:

First, a question for you:  Would you add sugar to your household disinfectant and use it to sweeten your coffee? If the answer is no, maybe think twice about using Splenda.

Splenda is a compound comprised of two molecules of sucrose (sugar) and three molecules of chlorine – wait, isn’t that bleach?  You use chlorine in your pool and to disinfect your house with right? What is it doing in your recipes and morning coffee? Ok, maybe that’s a harsh comparison, but do you really think Splenda and other artificial sweeteners are the answer to being healthy, vibrant, lean, and trim? Artificial sweeteners such as Splenda, aspartame, equal, and sweet n low are unnatural substances that should never enter your body. They may not only make you feel sick but can cause cravings for more sugar and carbohydrates.

Let’s start with the fact that these chemicals give the body nothing nutritious to use or nourish itself with, therefore they are not recognized as a food, and the body will quickly want to get rid of them. Unfortunately, it’s not always that simple. These artificial compounds will be directed through the detoxification channels i.e., liver, kidneys, lymph, intestines. What’s not eliminated effectively will be surrounded by water and stuffed into fat cells to protect vital organs from toxic overload.  Once in the fat cells, there they sit…unless otherwise forced out by specific cleansing protocols or vigorous exercise.  If the body is not eliminating them, then you can be sure, with continued consumption you are adding to your toxic collection…and the effects become cumulative. This means that toxicity levels can build up over time until one day your body may have enough – and react.  Symptoms associated with artificial sweeteners include, sugar and carbohydrate cravings, disruption of sleep patterns, sexual dysfunction, increase risk for cancer, MS, Lupus, diabetes, a number of degenerative diseases, skin rashes/flushing, panic-like agitation, dizziness, numbness, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping, bladder issues, and stomach pain.  And what’s worse, you may never know you’ve reached your toxicity level until you’re already sick.

This brings me to a personal experience with a client I worked with years ago who was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It turned out she had aspartame poisoning!  Aspartame is a neuro toxin which means it can break through the blood brain barrier and affect your central nervous system causing symptom that mimic MS or Lupus. Luckily, once we cleaned up her diet and got her body detoxing this awful chemical, she fully recovered.

Best natural solution:  Lose your cravings for sugar.  You can do this by slowly retraining your taste buds not to enjoy sugar so much.  One way to do this is to really focus on the sweet flavor of a sugary item.  You’ll find, if you start to become present while you eat, that sugary sweetness is actually quite overpowering…and gross.

If you think you’ll have trouble completing getting rid of unnatural sweeteners, try replacing the with Stevia or Xylitol.

Stevia is….

Xylitol…
